History: Jimi Hendrix born in 1942
James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix was born in Seattle, Washington, but rose to fame in Britain with his band the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he was arguably one of the most influential guitarists of the 1960s and perhaps in the history of rock music. Hendrix died in 1970 after collapsing at a party in London. He was 27 years old.
