BUYING AT AUCTION – A QUICK GUIDE
Auctions are a straightforward way to purchase unique items, whether you are a collector, dealer, or first-time buyer. You may bid in person, online, by phone, or by placing advance (absentee) bids. We are happy to answer questions and help you through the process.

BID ONLINE
Online bidding is the most popular way to participate in our auctions. You may place bids in advance, bid during the auction, or participate live as if you were in the room.

- Register in advance and save favorite lots for easy access
When bidding directly through posterconnection.com, you pay the same buyer’s premium as bidders on the auction floor, with no additional platform fees. In the event of identical bids, bids placed through our platform take precedence over identical bids placed on external platforms.
You may also bid through third-party platforms such as Invaluable.com. Please note that these platforms may charge an additional buyer’s premium, typically up to 5%.
BID BY PHONE
Live telephone bidding may be arranged in advance. Please complete and submit an Absentee Bid Form, and a staff member will call you during the auction. Contact us for availability and details.
ABSENTEE BIDDING
Absentee bidding allows you to submit bids in advance of the auction.
- Submit bids online or via Absentee Bid Form (email or fax)
- Your bids are confidential
- Your maximum bid is only used if required by competitive bidding
Many absentee bidders purchase items for less than their maximum bid.
BUYER’S PREMIUM
- 20% buyer’s premium on all items purchased directly through PosterConnection
- $15 minimum buyer’s premium per lot
- An additional buyer’s premium of up to 5% is typically charged when bidding through third-party platforms
Applicable sales tax, shipping, insurance, and handling costs (as outlined in the Terms and Conditions of Sale) are added to the hammer price.
