Herbert Bayer, the Austrian and American graphic designer, painter, photographer, and architect, Bayer was widely recognized as the last living member of the Bauhaus. His pioneering experiments in typography, layout and design helped set the style and tone of European and American advertising. Bayer passed away at his home in Montecito, California in 1985.
