Today in History: Simplicissimus first published in 1896
124 years ago today, the first edition of the satirical magazine “Simplicissimus” was issued. The weekly publication was created by publisher Albert Langen (1869-1909) and graphic artist Thomas Heine (1867-1948) and quickly became known for its politically daring content mixed with a modern graphic style. The satirical weekly was published until 1967s (with a gap between 1944 and 1954).
